The Dilwyn

The Dilwyn

The Dilwyn danced in Stratford Upon Avon

The "Welsh Dance" was collected by both Leather and Sharp. When observed by Leather it was performed with eight dancers. When observed by Sharp, it was performed by sixteen dancers. The Alvechurch Morris version owes the chorus, side steps and star to the original.

The back to back and Broken Toe are unique to Alvechurch. The latter figure is named after dancer, Pete Wright, who broke his toe dancing at the Upton-On-Severn Folk Festival.

The "How low can you go" was a feature that crept in over a period of time, eventually culminating in the "flat on the floor" finale.
